School Improvement Half Day In-Service

Grades 1 - 8 Teachers, including special education, to meet in your respective buildings:

12:45-1:45

·        Internal Review – discuss results of findings with entire staff, refine report for final preparation

·        Math Curriculum Committee Update

1:50-2:00             Break

2:00-3:20 Elementary Buildings

·        Grade level planning for further implementation of the Four Blocks next year

o       Review newly acquired materials

o       List what teacher manuals are needed for next year

o       Prepare supply needs list for next year

o       Discuss goals for implementation next year

o       Turn in a written report to Dawn Russert

2:00-3:20 Memorial

·        Grade level planning

o       List goals and strategies for improving reading, math, and writing ISAT scores.

o       Discuss writing across the curriculum as this was one area all grade level teams strongly suggested in lieu of a “Writing Block”.

§        How can it be implemented?

§        How often would writing prompts be given in all classes (ie. once every two months)?

§        What rubric to use (ISBE’s ISAT rubric, district rubric, other)?

o       Turn in a written report to Dawn Russert

 

All district Kindergarten teachers to meet in the board room at Crawl:

12:45-1:05

  1. Review academic progress of current Kindergarten students/classes
  2. List academic strengths and weaknesses of this year’s class

1:05-1:50

  1. Visit LAUNCH classroom – Discuss setting up a center-based classroom
  2. Develop list of common main themes for next year (1 common theme/quarter)
  3. Discuss interest in a summer and/or fall Kindergarten study group

1:50-2:00    Break

2:00-3:20

  1. Plan for next year (review new classroom needs/supply lists, etc). 
  2. Turn in a written report to Dawn Russert describing the results of your findings, strategies and/or goals for the upcoming year.

 

LRC Directors to meet at Coolidge:

  1. Discuss results of this year’s AR program and discuss ideas for the next school year.
  2. Plan and document for Library transition for Reavis and Memorial (tentative schedules, standard operating procedures, locations of materials/key information, equipment inventory, supply needs for next year, etc.)
  3. Prepare written report of your meeting turn in to Dawn Russert.

 

Social Workers meeting place to be determined:

  1. Examine class lists and record transfers.
  2. What is the status of the “Second Steps” program?  What staff has been trained?  Have you been able to incorporate it classrooms?  Where are we going with it?  If we are not using it, what are we doing instead?
  3. Prepare written report of your meeting and turn in to Dawn Russert.

 

Ø      Classroom Aids to work in their respective classrooms.

Ø      Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Ed. Diagnostician to perform testing and attend meetings.

Ø      Nurse and Health Aids to update and prepare for transfer student health records.

 

BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY, PLEASE TURN IN ALL REPORTS TO DAWN RUSSERT.
