Oak Glen's classes with Mrs. Forsyth, Mrs. Kern, Ms. Kubik and Ms. Cruz, Mrs. Annicks, and Mrs. Fortin were visited by Memorial's Mighty Mustangs Achieve Leaders who read stories about holidays around the world! #OakGlenGrizzlies #MightyMustangs

Memorial started a new Lunch Buddies program with the Lansing Police Department before Winter Break! This initiative pairs sixth and seventh graders with mentor officers who will meet with our students every other week. #MightyMustangs

Memorial's Recycling Club is teaching students about ecology and making holiday gifts! Thank you to Ms. Zadrozny and Ms. Salazar for leading this group. Remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle over the holidays! #MightyMustangs

Today a STAY INSIDE protocol was implemented at all of our schools when the police communicated a threat in the community. A suspect was quickly apprehended and the STAY INSIDE procedure has been lifted. All students and staff are safe. Please contact your child's school with any questions.

Tree lighting at Fox Pointe will take place this Friday, November 29 at 5:00 PM and the tree can be visited through Sunday, December 22. Thank you to Mrs. Hileman at Reavis for decorating our tree! We hope all of our stakeholders have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Lansing School District 158 continuously strives to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment within which our students can learn and our staff members can work. We value the contributions and diversity of our team that help to support the District’s mission of educating Lansing’s children in a caring place. On October 4, 2024, the Executive Director of Human Resources sent an email to staff that failed to align with the District’s mission, goals, and expectations. A prompt and thorough investigation of this incident and its impact on the school environment took place. Throughout this process, the District respectfully allowed individuals who were negatively impacted by the email to have their thoughts and feelings heard while also considering the position of the Executive Director. After carefully reflecting on the conduct at issue, its impact on the environment of the District, and hearing directly from staff members and the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Board of Education determined that she could no longer effectively continue to serve in her administrative role. As a result, the Board voted unanimously to immediately terminate her contract as Executive Director of Human Resources. In accordance with her tenure rights under the Illinois School Code, the Executive Director was transferred to a teaching position for which she holds the proper credentials. Her compensation and benefits in this role have been adjusted to align with the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Education and the Lansing Education Association.

Today at 11:40 AM, the blue light emergency system was accidentally activated at Coolidge Elementary School. Police responded immediately and all students and staff are safe. We apologize for any disruptions this may have caused and appreciate our staff who responded quickly and identified the false alarm.
